Choose the $ATOM1 ticker ($ATONE) #63
Comments
I think move away from the word atom entirely. Fork, then perhaps fork with a brand new shiny identity. Full on new leaf. No confusions. Bold moves away from safe choices excite and can carry the day. |
I'm suggesting $GAIA as the ticker. Commented with reason on #58 |
https://x.com/jaekwon/status/1733011894724911521?s=20 Jehan: "That's actually pretty sick and might be the start of the ATOM community atoning for our numerous sins, incl. lowering inflation" From middle english ATONE means "at one", or "make or become united or reconciled". I think we have a clear winner. And it gives us a good chance at designing AtomOne to be self-atoning. |
💯 It's amazing how similar it is to ATOM while still having an explicit and distinct identity. I will keep this issue open for comments. Meanwhile, I have opened #67 to implement the change and automatically close this issue when/if we decide to move forward. |
The ticker $ATONE is acceptable. However, it's challenging to draw a connection between ATOM and ATONE without understanding its historical context. Additionally, I'd like to propose two more related tickers: "Atomkern" and "Nucleus." These terms, meaning the same thing in different languages, refer to the central part of an atom, a discovery made by Ernest Rutherford in 1911. |
$ATONE works. I love how this is all forming. |
This rationale is powerful. It's cohesive with the AtomOne story we're trying to tell.
Regarding AtomOne's graphic identity, it is not indispensable to make an obvious connection to the traditional atomic structure. We should not hold ourselves constrained to a particular graphic direction—especially having chosen the $ATONE ticker, which expands the thematical sphere of the brand beyond the chemical perspective of the atomic structure. We can continue this subject in #14 |
I like $ATONE for all the reasons mentioned in this thread. |
This ❤️ |
$ATONE is the only way to go |
All aboard for ATONE. |
@Victor2086 Please go to issue #14 for the discussion on branding. Post it there. Thanks! |
If you look at most of the forks keeping a part of the forked blockchain they basically all live in their shadow (eth classic, BCH..) i ll go for Proton, central to the atom with a positive charge. I ll admit it might be too close to neutron though |
UPDATE: trying out $ATONE for now until there is need to change it.
We've discussed that the $ATOM1 ticker might be an issue, as seen in these links:
This thread is to focus the conversation on choosing a ticker. We want a clear issue name for easy follow-up and understanding.
Note: The genesis repo is likely more of a framework than a specific blockchain instance. This means we could use $ATOM1 to simplify our documentation, emphasizing concept explanation. We can update the README to state it more clearly. Similarly, we should consider a term like $ATOMX as an equivalent to $phATOM1 for $ATOM1. For uniformity, we might also adopt $PHOTONX in place of $phATOM1.
If you believe that we need a new ticker, please comment here with suggestions and your reasons.
