Penpot Desktop supports accessing custom instances of Penpot, you can run Penpot on your own server or computer and connect to it using Penpot Desktop.
To self-host Penpot, follow the official self-hosting instructions. Once your own Penpot instance is up and running, connect to it using Penpot Desktop by entering the server URL in the application's settings.
- Set up a new Penpot instance following the official self-hosting instructions.
- Note the server URL of your Penpot instance eg
http://localhost:3000/
. - Open Penpot Desktop and go to
Settings
(the gear icon in the top right corner). - Enter the server URL in the
Instance
section and clickSave
. - Restart Penpot Desktop.
- The next time you open a new tab in Penpot Desktop, it will connect to the newly configured Penpot instance.
