• look up arabic type design blog posts/resources/descriptions
• look for communities where the community is smaller or less affluent, or has no native tech comunity, they usually hire a western typographer to make their fonts
• look up League of Movable type https://www.theleagueofmoveabletype.com/ fonts are generally all open source
