Some dependencies that can be updated (not urgent):

Firebase v8 -> v9: some new features, apparently much faster also
Firebase web react v5 -> v6: requires firebase v9

But more pressing are probably the updates related to security/vulnerabilities, might want to enable dependabot updates for this

Also, standardising versions for node/npm could be a great help. Currently works on node v16, npm v8 (need to standardise for github actions as well)
