1.0 Bitcoin Node Access

John Light edited this page Jul 17, 2016 · 2 revisions

There are currently three modes of access: Public, Private, and Onion.

Private access (port 81)
In Private mode, only the user’s internal network is used. The user is allowed access to many control, monitoring and configuration functions for both device and software systems that run on the Bitcoin node.

The following screens are available in private mode:

  • Home
  • Device Status
  • Settings
  • News
  • About
  • FAQ
  • Power

Each of these screens will be described in further detail later in this document.

NOTE: In private mode, the user needs to know the internal IP address of the device to gain access. Bitseed provides the user with the ability to securely obtain the internal IP from the bitseed.org website by entering the serial number of the device. The serial number is located on a sticker on the bottom side of the Bitcoin. As of the writing of this document, this feature is currently being worked on but should be available in a few weeks.

Public access (Port 80)
Since the user is coming in through an external connection, they are granted limited passive access. In this mode only the external IP address is shown and the internal IP address is omitted. The Device Status, Settings and Power pages are not shown. The following screens are available in public mode.

  • Home
  • News
  • About
  • FAQ

Onion access (Port 82)
Onion access is meant for Tor users only. Access is the same as public access with the exception that the external IP address is not shown while the Internal IP address is.
