Sysmaster ========= The Sysmaster telephony platform is based on a Sybase database. So the first step is to enable ruby to connect to Sybase. This is not easy! First, you need to install an ODBC client on your server (unixODBC or iODBC), then you need the ruby ODBC bindings from http://www.ch-werner.de/rubyodbc/ . Then you need to configure a DSN for your database and make sure everything is working. Basically, it's the same process as connecting to an SQL Server DB via ODBC. There's a great tutorial here: http://www.metaskills.net/2009/9/5/the-ultimate-os-x-snow-leopard-stack-for-rails-development-x86_64-macports-ruby-1-8-1-9-sql-server-more Also, Sysmaster typically runs TDS version 5.0 and on port 2000. Finally, you need the Sequel gem, too: http://sequel.rubyforge.org/ Example ======= # execute an sql query (be careful, Sybase is weird with straight SQL, use sysmaster functions when possible) Sysmaster.execute(sql_query) # retrieve the record for account #123 Sysmaster.find_member(123) # check if the password for account #123 is swordfish Sysmaster.authenticate_account(123, 'swordfish') # add $5.00 to account #123 Sysmaster.add_credit(123, 5.00) # check the status of account #123 Sysmaster.execute("select status from authentication where acctid=123").first[:status] Copyright (c) 2009 Mani Tadayon, released under the MIT license
