Joomla e mail cloak breaks page load in chrome

When you are using this to ajaxify a Joomla site, if you have an e-mail address on a page Joomla will try to 'cloak' the e-mail by turning it into javascript code.

Now if you are trying to load a page with JS like that in via baluptons ajax script, at the point where it parses the scripts in the loaded page the page load breaks with 'syntax error unexpected token >' error.

Unfortunately I cannot sus out how the joomla emailcloak file works, It is not obvious how that code is generated so I currently have no idea how to fix the issue apart from turning e-mail cloaking off...
