Gradius' Option Seeds

I'm thinking about the Options being able to copy survivor attacks, but in a different item. Maybe the Option Seeds from Salamander 2 will fit in the category.

It does not completely copy attacks of the survivor; just maybe a chance or a for every X attacks thing. Maybe it's best to be configurable.

What do you guys think?

looks cool af, but wouldn't it be better if they were positioned over the shoulder so they don't collide with a rock or something?
