## Why can't conda find this package that I know exists?

General question (perhaps for @travishathaway or @kenodegard): A lot of people do conda update conda in (base). Is that advised? If not, should probably add an advisement against that. Just checking.


* Clear the conda cache: Sometimes the conda cache can become corrupted and prevent the package from being found. You can try clearing the cache using the command `conda clean -a`.

* Check the package name: Make sure you are using the correct name of the package. It's possible that you may have misspelled the name or used the wrong capitalization.

* Check platform compatibility: Some packages may not be available for all platforms. Make sure the package you are trying to install is available for your platform. You can check the package's documentation or website for more information.
