Note: Test content has already been produced for this media profile. In fact, the proposal to add the profile to the content specification was in response to this test content being submitted for testing. For this reason, in CSTF #96 it was agreed that the Content Specification Task Force be the designated proponent for the CMAF AVC HD ('chdf') media profile.

Market relevance

Meet at least one of the following conditions.

1) Codec with existing market relevance

1.1) Digital Media Service Providers (at least 3): 1080p50 is confirmed to be used by DVB-T2 services from the German broadcasters ARD, ZDF, RTL, ProSieben and many others on the Freenet platform. Dutch broadcaster NLZiet announced support for 1080p50 here.

1.2) Digital Media Playback Devices available in the market (at least 5): TP Vision supports 1080p50 AVC in all of their Philips branded TVs. Samsung supports 1080p50 AVC in their UHD and FHD televisions (see Samsung Developers, 2021 TV Video Specifications).

2) Codec with WAVE membership support

2.1) Device manufacturers which are WAVE members (at least 2): NOT APPLICABLE

2.2) Content providers which are WAVE members (at least 2): NOT APPLICABLE

2.3) Other Wave members (at least total of 6 including the above members): NOT APPLICABLE

Note: A WAVE member company self-declares at the time of voting whether they wish to be considered a device manufacturer, a content provider or other.

Note: To meet the WAVE Media Profile ‘open standard’ requirement, the media profile in question must have been developed following an open specification process which supports independent implementations, or is in the process of being published under such a process.
