Difference between declaring an empty test and using skip

What I'm wondering is, if I create an empty test, for example like this:

it('should do nothing')

Does it do anything? And specifically, is there any difference between using it.skip('should do nothing') and just not have anything inside the test?

So apparently it's just the same, they are set as pending.
