Where are preferences saved?

I'm on Android 13, rooted Lineage OS.

I see the same file is present in /data/user/0/github.daneren2005.dsub/shared_prefes/github.daneren2005.dsub_preferences.xml and /data/data/github.daneren2005.dsub/shared_prefes/github.daneren2005.dsub_preferences.xml

I had to uninstall and reinstall the app. I saved the preferences file. I go and copy it to those directories (copying it in one makes it appear in the other, I guess it's a symlink or something similar). But when I restart the app it overwrites it with the basic startup file, the ones with the test server, etc.

How can I restore my preferences?
