Add a package description with the most representative examples / links to vignettes to README file

@KKulma I don't thinkt that this particular package is a release candidate on CRAN, I see it as an early version of our application workflow, and a potential incubator of new solutions that will find place in future packages. And incubator of blogposts and tutorials. But I agree that it has to be better documented, and now that it has the roughly final metadata structure, I will start creating it.
