Contribution Guide

Contributing

Although CGAP has been primarily open-source since its inception, we didn't start with a way for folks outside of DBMI to contribute. We have certainly taken advantage of open source code that others wrote along the way, though, and are eager to take a more active role in the open-source community at large. However, we know that this will take time and require dedicated and consistent effort across the board to facilitate, so we are taking small steps in that direction.

Currently, we're partnering closely with hospitals who want to help us refine our processes for deploying and maintaining our software, and to help us on track down bugs and ideate around new features. Right now we have only a loose set of guidelines for submitting bug reports and other feedback on our JIRA Help Desk, which is detailed on our website.

In the near future, we'll be managing technical feedback and public contributions via the issues page on this repository, but are still working out the details. As we continue our move toward a self-serve model, we'll seek to create better ways of engaging the community. In the meantime, please watch this page for updates.

If you have suggestions on how we can better scale or improve our contribution process, send us an email at cgap-support@hms-dbmi.atlassian.net.

Code of Conduct

At present, our collaborations have been limited to our organization and its partners, so our internal institutional rules have mostly sufficed. As we open to the public, we'll need a good set of community guidelines to make sure everyone is kind and supportive of one another. As we develop and revise this Code of Conduct, it'll be shared here.

If you have suggestions for what works well or doesn't, let us know by sending email at cgap-support@hms-dbmi.atlassian.net.
