The TracQuery page, which is linked to from the View Tickets* menu (bottom right), contains a section on saving custom queries, which says:

Trac allows you to save the query as a named query accessible from the reports module. To save a query ensure that you have Updated the view and then click the Save query button displayed beneath the results. You can also save references to queries in Wiki content, as described below.

I wasn't able to find the "Save query" button, which I assumed would add another section for custom queries to the pre-configured ones on the "Reports" page (see also this comment).

If this feature isn't availabe (to end users), this section should be removed or annotated. If it could be enabled, it would make a really helpful addition to the tracker.

*Tangentially related: this is the only menu whose heading doesn't match or so much as include the wording used in the menu tab/button ("View Tickets" vs. "Custom query"). For consistency and because of what the page ultimately does, it would ideally reference "Tickets" in its heading. (The search form itself doesn't need its own heading, IMHO; it could be replaced by regular text leading into it.)

Hi and thanks for filing this issue!

Could you post a screenshot of where you see the link to the TracQuery page. On my screen, I can't see anything in the bottom right of the "View Tickets" menu like you describe (could be because I have a different set of permissions).

I believe what's happening is that the documentation is incorrect: we have disabled the "reports" module, and the save button is not supposed to be there.
I'm not 100% clear on how the wiki documentation works. I think some of it might be auto-generated based on which module are active or not, so maybe there's a command to run that would update the TracQuery page to remove the mention of saving queries.

I'm also not really clear on what the feature would bring exactly. How is a saved report different than bookmarking the URL once you've configured the query the way you like?

Again, thanks for bringing these issues to light. It's much appreciated 👍🏻
