How To Use
When you first open the app and any time your token expires you will be asked to log into D&D beyond. This allows us to pull your purchased content and parse it for Alchemy vtt.
On the main screen there are two columns, D&D Beyond Monsters
and the Alchemy Import List
. The fist column you will want to interact with is the D&D Beyond Monsters.
At first this will be empty, to import a monster or series of monsters type the search term for the monster into the search bar and hit enter. This will search D&D Beyond for the monster and all related monsters and show a paged list of the results. Simply click the red add button to move it over to the Alchemy Import list. You can repeat this process for as many monsters as you wish to import. When you are finished move over to the Alchemy Import List. (Note: this is intended to help you import a single encounter so it has not been tested with over 10 monsters at a time. If you attempt to import such a large set please do so at your own risk, or attempt smaller batches).
When you have selected all the monsters you wish to import. Simply hit the generate button. The app will spend a few moments processing the monster lists, and then ask you to save the .json
file that you can use to import into your alchemy compendium.
If you have a single monster you wish to import from d&d beyond, you can hit the up arrow next to the generate button and enter the monster url from d&d beyond in that box. When you hit the add button it will show up in the import list to be imported alongside any monsters you searched for.
When you are finished exporting the monster json file, you can open the Alchemy desktop app and go to one of your created universes. You can then go to the NPC tab and import the .json
file created in the D&D Beyond Alchemy Tools app. Note: this feature may require a subscription to use.
