Upcoming EasyBuild release (3.6.2)

  • Planned release by end of the week
  • Bart: Everything merged. Running regression tests should be running.

Q&A

  • Mikael: Thoughts about PR #6537?
    • Many centers already provide Python at lower toolchain level: why not having it in the official repo?
    • Still possible to do so in 2018b since many codes that depend on Python are not available yet.
    • Bart: We also provide a lower level with Python modules without packages that depend on higher toolchain level libraries.
    • Davide:
      • Totally behind any attempt to push Python down to GCCcore.
      • PR represents a good starting point to reach convergence. Maybe create a Python interest group?
      • Adopt JSC approach for SciPy performance issue with Intel compiler.
      • Will try to keep high attention on the PR by the maintainers.
