Notes on the 105th EasyBuild conference call, Wednesday June 20th 2018 (5pm - 6pm CEST)
Alphabetical list of attendees (4):
- Davide Vanzo (Vanderbilt University, US)
- Bart Oldeman (ComputeCanada)
- Mikael Öhman (C3SE, Sweden)
- Fotis Georgatos (SDSC, Switzerland)
- Upcoming EasyBuild release (3.6.2)
- Q&A
- Planned release by end of the week
- Bart: Everything merged. Running regression tests should be running.
- Mikael: Thoughts about PR #6537?
- Many centers already provide Python at lower toolchain level: why not having it in the official repo?
- Still possible to do so in 2018b since many codes that depend on Python are not available yet.
- Bart: We also provide a lower level with Python modules without packages that depend on higher toolchain level libraries.
- Davide:
- Totally behind any attempt to push Python down to GCCcore.
- PR represents a good starting point to reach convergence. Maybe create a Python interest group?
- Adopt JSC approach for SciPy performance issue with Intel compiler.
- Will try to keep high attention on the PR by the maintainers.
