Estimation of inland fish catch from Household Consumption and Expenditure Surveys (HCES)

Published as Fluet-Chouinard et al. 2018 - PNAS - Global hidden harvest of freshwater fish revealed by household surveys

Methodological Steps:

  • Convert survey data to standard g/person/year
  • Exclude contribution from marine fisheries, inland aquaculture, import and export using FAO statistics.
  • Estimate underreporting ratio
