25. Use More than Color Alone to Convey Information in a Web Page

  • Don't rely on color only to convey your information. Make sure to provide others cues as well as meaningful labels. 👍

  • To test whether you are relying too much on color to convey the meaning, print your webpage in black and white. Does it still make sense?

  • Color should also not be used to distinguish links from surrounding text unless they meet certain contrast requirements (that's why we add an underline too).
