• 1.75.0.0 - latest release with LLVM 17 and GCC 13 - https://github.com/esp-rs/rust-build/releases/tag/v1.75.0.0
• 1.76.0.0 - scheduled official release with LLVM 17 and GCC 13 - around 15th Februart 2024

ESP-IDF Releases

• Available releases of ESP-IDF: 5.2-beta1, 5.1.2, 5.0.5, 4.4.6, 4.3.6, 4.2.5
• New release available: 5.2-beta2, 4.3.7 (4.3 is now end of life)

• Support for P4 simulation in VS Code (including Bare Metal)
• New: Wokwi for VS Code - Offline Mode Support - available for Wokwi customers

Experiments

• ESP32 Language Lab - comparison between technologies
  • confirmed limitation of Rust no_std for ESP32 and ESP32-S2, less memory available, problem with non-continuous block of memory
• RustZX-ESP32
  • speed up of display by decreasing SPI freq from 60 MHz to 40 MHz
  • ESP32-S3-USB-OTG component - display status of USB keys
  • added ESP32-C6-DevKit-C1 variant with support of keyboard input via espflash monitor using UART0

• Began work on decoupling our code base from embedded-hal@0.2.x
  • The analog and twai modules are tightly coupled to this library
  • I started doing some refactoring of the analog module to fix this
  • I think fixing twai should not be too difficult, either
• Began work on adding support for ESP32-P4
  • Initial hello_world application builds/flashes/runs
  • Will PR this once new esp-hal releases are out (next week)

ESPFLASH

• Published the Q1 2024 planning post
