Hi {name},
Sorry for the direct approach, got your contact from GitHub. I saw that you're the most active contributor of {project}, among other projects.
I'm part of the organisation of EuroSciPy [1], and we had discussions with some open source maintainers on the lack of a conference in Europe that serves us as a meeting point with other maintainers of Python scientific software (like SciPy in the US). This year few of us wanted to find a conference where contributors can find other contributors (besides users, beginners...), and EuroSciPy seems to be the best. It already has many maintainers attending, it's a community organised conference with affordable prices, and it's relatively small (compared for example to EuroPython).
Besides letting you know about this initiative, and invite you to the conference, I'd like to know what could we do at the conference to better accommodate your needs and the rest of the Biopython community. We thought on plenary sessions where project maintainers can give short updates on the projects (SciPy US does it), birds of feather sessions [2], financial sponsorship to maintainers who need it, space for mentoring new contributors during the conference... But would be great to know from you, if there is anything we can do to help you meet the other maintainers of your project, your users, and maintainers of related projects.
Looking forward to hear from you, and hope to see you in Bilbao!
PS: Our CFP closes on Sunday [3], but if you (or someone else you know) are interested on speaking, let me know and we'll reserve some slots for maintainers who couldn't submit a proposal before the deadline.
