Caddy, Foundry, Docker Connection Issues #811

Howdy y'all 👋
I'm attempting to self host Foundry in Felddy's docker container with Caddy as a reverse proxy so my players can go to an easy-to-remember URL instead of an IP address. Unfortunately when I attempt to go to the URL Firefox give me an "Unable to connect" error.

Seems like you are not able to access Caddy from outside of your network.

Doing a simple ping I find that your domain points to theivoryguard.com = 216.55.251.127. Is that the correct IP?

The two places I would look now are your DNS records to make sure that your URL is pointing at your home IP and at your router to make sure its setup correctly to allow the 80 and 443 traffic to the Caddy container.

I currently have Foundry running on docker with Caddy serving as the reverse proxy. Have you checked your Caddy auth logs? Are your users attempting to access Foundry getting logged in Caddy?

I do not have the following configuration items set either. I would try removing them and try reloading the container.

Ok, I added the log function to my Caddyfile & restarted the server. What command do I need to use to view the logs?
I attempted nano /data/logs/access.log but got an error saying the file doesn't exist.

Are you trying to access Caddy from outside of the container?

The logs will be dropped wherever you have your caddy_data stored.

Found it, but it's blank. Tried bringing the server down then up again. Still blank.

Yah that's the correct IP. I've definitely got the DNS configured correctly cause I can SSH into the server using only the URL. When I use nmap the ports 22, 80, 443, & 8080 show up, but 443 is the only port that's closed. I'll have to double check the router's port forward settings tomorrow (the server is located in a friend's closet because I'm on Starlink which is a whole other issue).

Went back to the router & double checked the port forwarding. Sure enough 443 was set to "default" instead of any actual IP address. Switched that over & the server works now.
