[Question] - it does not seem possible to create children for templates defined in a parent hierarchy

hello - we have 1 big team which has been separated into two smaller subteams having 2 distinct are paths in ADO. It does not seem to be possible to create a template at the "parent" level of the templates and apply it to each of the sub-teams. The goal here is to try and create 1 set of templates to be used by the two teams. Is there any workaround which currently exists?
