Failed to install

The installation does not complete, there is an error when downloading indicating "Wrong size for extra data https://www.guilded.gg/downloads/Guilded-Linux.deb"

How to repeat the error:

1. open a terminal
2. type: flatpak install flathub gg.guilded.Guilded
3. write "yes" when it asks for confirmation to install it

@losuler @hfiguiere @bbhtt sorry for ping but yeah, seems like installation of the Guilded flatpak is currently completely broken, but it seems like it should be an easy fix hopefully, at least from what I'm guessing looking at the error message?

That's what happens when it's an unversioned URL and upstream is rotating it. Merging any of open PRs that updates it will fix it.

I suggest also asking for an exception to add automerge. https://docs.flathub.org/docs/for-app-authors/external-data-checker#automatically-merge-prs

Looks like that person made no commits anywhere on github in almost 4 months, what happens in this case?

Apologies for falling behind with maintaining this Flatpak. I can update this later today. It was just my interest in maintaining this dropped significantly when they forced the requirement of linking with a Roblox account. Which in my opinion doesn't bode well for the future of Guilded.

Ah, really glad you're still here! Personally I feel pretty much the same but I have a friend who is trying out Linux and who uses Guilded so that's why I wanted this issue to be solved. Will you be enabling automerge for this one or just updating it manually?

Apart from Flathub highly discouraging it as it could lead to deploying broken releases (and wasting time on the build runners), because Guilded decided to publish their .deb releases without the version in the URL or the filename, flathub-infra/flatpak-external-data-checker doesn't in its current form, have a way to extract the version for the appdata. Which as far as I'm aware (please correct me if I'm wrong) is required for Flathub.

Furthermore, because Guilded decided to release their Linux releases in this non-standard way (old releases are not accessible), it breaks any existing Flathub release. Which makes matters worse for their users if they inevitably release a broken or buggy release themselves.

Either way, I apologise again for the delays, but I've pushed the latest version now¹, and it should be up on Flathub shortly.
