💥  Actual behavior

When Fleet-maintained Zoom app is installed it automatically opens after installation and shows some popup. This came up while testing software install during Mac first boot (#19372). Zoom popup appears over Setup Assistant.

🧑‍💻  Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to Software > Add software > Fleet-maintained and add Zoom app to your team.
  2. Go to Controls > Setup Experiance > 4. Install software and choose previously added Zoom appp to install during Setup Assistant
  3. Enroll host via ADE and observe how Zoom popup appears

🕯️ More info (optional)

Zoom provides Zoom for IT installer that doesn't show popup after install and can be customized with custom configuration profiles.

Instead of using Zoom use Zoom for IT installer.

Expected behavior is Zoom installation without any popups that appear during installation.

Hey @marko-lisica thanks for tracking this! Reminder to leave the ~feature fest label off new requests.

This label is now added during the "Unpacking the why" call.

More on this in the handbook here:

@marko-lisica on second thought, can you please transform this into a bug? I assigned you and brought this onto the drafting board.

Even though we didn't spec using Zoom for IT we now know this is the expected behavior.

@georgekarrv when we make this change, do we have to wait for a Fleet release or will it go live w/o pushing a new Fleet version?

Similarly, when a new version of an existing Fleet-maintained app is released, do we have to wait for a new Fleet release for that version to be available to add in Fleet?

As it is designed today, yes
