Finding SCOTUS term information for cases?

Hello,

I have looked in the various bulk data files on your website, and I cannot find any column in any file that indicates the year or court term. ( I guess I am thinking of the Supreme Court Database which has a 'term' field in their .csv's.).

Is this calendar info only available to a full database replication for your Free Law data, or is that info that I could get on my own, parsing the .csv's?

Hi, thanks for asking, Mike. I think the fields you're looking for are the date_filed fields. You'll find such a field in a few places:

• Docket - This is the date the case was filed
• OpinionCluster - This is the date the opinion was filed (note is also has a field, date_filed_is_approximate, which we use when we don't know the actual date (this was more common in older decisions, where you only knew the "term" of the decision).
