Sorry that I have to create a fake issue here - I could not find any contact information, otherwise I would have used that instead. I hope you don't mind.
I have seen that you managed to build & program a 'Nu6510' for the C64 (https://github.com/go4retro/Nu6510) because you filed an issue for it.
Do you happen to come from Germany? If so, we could continue in german. For the moment, I'll stay in english..
Can you help me out with a few questions?

  • Is the gateware for the Xilinx CPLD complete? So does the Nu6510 work as intended?
  • How did you write the binary to the Xilinx? All I found on the web were old references to Windows XP, parallelport hardware or expensive Tools, specific for Xilinx. Is there a cheap way? I have a USB ST-Link Programmer if that helps...
  • How did you compile the binary from the source? I have no experience with the toolchain...

Thank you

@giobbino. Maybe I have to mention your name, so that you are notified (not sure).

Hi,
sorry, no german at all, but you can chat with me in english (poor english on my side LOL).
Honestly I don't remember why I wrote an issue here.
I've built this project: https://github.com/monotech/MOS_CPU_Replacer
that is a drop-in replacement for 6510 an 8500. It doesn't use any programmable chip, so I'm not sure what you mean about it.
About the above project, I only tested it as 6510 replacement and it worked almost fine, I only found a glitch with the QIX-clone game called Stix. I tested it for some time, but since I still had a couple of spare 6510, I decided to put the 6510 back into my C=64. However it seems to me it works reasonably well.
Hope it helps, please feel free to contact me if you need.
Cheers,
Giovi

Hi!
In fact, I built the MOS CPU Replacer from Monotech as well. :-)
The issue that I saw from you was this one: go4retro/Nu6510#1 Therefore I thought that there is someone with experience with the Nu6510. In the meantime, I heard that this project is untested and mechanically, the part of the pcb sticking out collides with compoents, depending on the C64 board revision.
If I have some news on the topic, I'll come back to you.

Thanks so far and cheers! :-)
Jürgen

Yep, I just discovered somehow I wrote the issue on the wrong project LOL
If you take a look to the monotech mos cpu replacer issue page, you will see there's the same issue by me.
I now updated the comment here, deleting the content, since it wasn't related to this project.
About the monotech mos cpu replacer, I have to say it works fine, except for a glitch I've found with a QIX game clone.
I've built the rev. 1 and I've updated to the rev. 2 (not an easy task, though), but the glitch is still there.
Any other software I tried worked fine on my breadbin C64s
