Output Overview
Hack for LA roles have been developed and defined over time as the organization needs continue to change. Each role summary is intended to help define scope for our volunteers as they onboard and look to create impact. Each project will have a more granular definition of skillsets, languages, platforms and experience level based on the specific project focus or need. The project role descriptions and needs are currently managed on the Community of Practice Repository.
The Communities of Practice are now set up for most Hack for LA role categories. Each group has a regular meeting cadence. These communities will initially serve as the basis for onboarding into the organization while allowing the volunteers to take on misc. issues to build towards a level of self sustaining comfort. As volunteers move onto projects, the Communities of Practice will continue to serve in parallel as support groups and collective resources for all participating members. Check out the Community of Practice Repository to see what the greater organization has been up to.
All internal and external outreach for every project should have developed language/messaging and Form design guideline templates. We've started to track some of this for each organization discipline as well.
As we define the necessary steps in each Milestone, it is crucial to document the process as we go. This includes tracking all successful efforts as well as failures. Once we iterate and refine, we can create Guides to help others on different projects with the same upcoming tasks.
Hack for LA is undergoing several Special Project efforts in order to streamline various processes and quickly test out strategy methods. These findings will ultimately inform how the organization decides to structure and scale in a more formalized manner.
