Map GHC upstream status to tags in vanilla channel? #1189

Here we have 4 states:

  • current major
  • stable
  • stable without further releases
  • not recommended

This is different from GHCup's recommended vs latest tags. I think it could make sense to adopt this for the vanilla channel.

This needs some thought though:

  • how exactly do we name the tags
  • do we keep recommended and latest tag anyway?
  • what about other tools in the vanilla channel...

Mind that the stable without further releases is volatile, versions can transition to Stable from it and back.

Sure. The recommended and latest tags are also moving.
