Would it be possible to get tar-progress to work on linux without pv installed? I don't have root access to a machine id like to use tar-progress on.

Maybe using tqdm or smth?

Hello,

Currently, it's not possible. Because it need currently to be done in the pipe from the tar command.

However, it could maybe possible if ia do a pipe against another python script.

Would you like to work on it ?

I have an idea, i will make two things,

IF pv is not present, then i will run the tar like on windows, with python tar module, it gonna be slower, but it gonna works, will this be okay for you ?
