Consider refactor for stateless rerendering

Jake: I'm going to take a break from https://github.com/hms-dbmi/tev-server/tree/mccalluc/clue-begin ... I think I could push it farther, but I'm wondering if a refactoring might be in order. I think what CLUE really wants is a function that can recreate the desired UI state given a DOM element to target, and an object that captures all the parameters. You pointed me at the other function that already exists and maybe the first thing to do is to make all re-renders go through it.

I might be in a place now where I could make a better CLUE tutorial, and that experience might help me, if/when I come back to this.
