Plan to V2

What started with a simple issue in June 2022 (#202) ended up being a project much longer than I had planned 🙃 I'd like to wrap up this "phase" leading to V2 of this repo (not sure how many iterations there were before) in the coming months, also motivated by the work being done part of the NumFocus Small Development Grant. Suggested plan:

Goals

The end goal is to be able to expose more the examples.holoviz.org website to HoloViz users:

• We're satisfied with how the website looks
• The NumFocus SFG work has been incorporated, modernizing some examples and enhancing the contributor experience
• The examples are deployed automatically via Github Actions, the deployments are monitored

Must have

Examples:

• make walker_lake "compliant"
• make landuse_classification "compliant"
• Replace broken Stamen tiles #292
• Merge all the NF SDG work (modernization and new examples)
  • EDIT (09/12/2024) NYC Buildings (blocked by perf: faster spatialpandas unique scalar values holoviz/holoviews#6470)
  • EDIT (09/12/2024) IEX Trading (blocked by Error raise when displaying the IEX Stocks holoviz/holoviews#6468)

Timeline

The NF SDG project should finish in August 2024. I'd like to wrap up this work in September 2024.

This phase is at least V3; there was an initial version, then a big revamp by Julia Signell, then this version.
