The following steps will guide you through creating sub-pages for a project.
- Log into the website administration and navigate to Projects.
- Create the main page for your project. Typically this is the page that is linked from the Projects listing. Skip this step if you already have a project page created.
- Make a note of the Project Name that will act as the main page - this will be used later for creating sub pages.
- From the Projects section, select "New Project". This new project will be the new sub page.
- Use the following suggestions when creating a new sub page:
- Project Name: use the same project name (including punctuation and captilization) as the main project page. Otherwise the project name that appears in the banner area will appear different.
- Override Default Project URL: should be left blank.
- Body Title: this is the header that appears immediately before the copy. Use a descriptive title for the sub page to differentiate it from other content on the website. For example: Instead of "Funders" or "Contact", say "Project XYZ Funders" or "Contact Project XYZ".
- Project Short Name: leave blank for sub pages.
- Parent Page: select the page that is to be the parent to this sub page. This is the link between the sub page to its parent page. Note: the list shows the Body Title of all possible parents.
- Sub page Order: By default sub pages appear listed in alphabetical order. If you want one or more sub pages to appear in a different order, each and every sub page belonging to the same parent should get numbered (otherwise the results may not be predictable).
- Thumbnail image: leave blank for sub pages.
- Thumbnail image alt text: leave blank for sub pages.
- Project Listing Description: leave blank for sub pages.
- External Project Website: leave blank for sub pages.
- Body: This is where you author the content of the sub page.
- Save the sub page.
- Repeat steps 4 to 6 for each sub page you want.
- Going to the website and viewing the project with sub pages should now have a sub page navigation appearing on the right-hand side.
It is possible to have multiple levels of sub pages (i.e. sub pages that have sub pages, and so on). To make a sub page of another sub page, follow the same steps as above with a slight modification to Step 5. When selecting the Parent Page in Step 5, choose the sub page from the list to be the parent (instead of the main project page). Save the page and you should now have a sub page navigation from the sub page.
