Discussion post text field erased upon failed submission #2393

Summary:

While using the Canvas mobile app in an area with bad internet, I wrote a discussion post response within the post text/response field. When I pressed submit, I received an error similar to "Submission failed. Please try again" (unfortunately, not certain of exact error code), and the page refreshed. However, while my internet was sufficient for the page to immediately reload, the several hundred words I had written in the text box were all erased.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Write a discussion post response on the Canvas mobile app (for iPhone, in my case).
  2. (Presumably, not sure if it actually occurred) experience a temporary loss of internet connection.
  3. Press submit on the post.

Expected behavior:

Either the internet connection, being functional, allows the post to be submitted, despite the prior lapse in connection; or the submission fails, but the text in the submission box is preserved.

Actual behavior:

The submission fails and the text in the submission box is deleted/erased/not cached.
