I18n, Tilt & Encoding Errors, Oh My!

I'm running into an encoding error which is preventing the deployment of my Roda app. A real head scratcher this one is. Not sure if its a problem with Roda, the render plugin, Tilt or Slim gem. Curious if anyone can help me solve it.

I've done the following to view the encoding for all related files, including layouts, partial, translation file and everything appears to be in order:

$ file -I views/home.slim

As the backtrace indicates, the exception is raised by Tilt. You probably need to set the default encoding in the template options:

plugin :render, engine: 'slim', views: 'views', layout: 'layout', template_opts: {default_encoding: 'UTF-8'}

If you don't set the :default_encoding option, it defaults to Encoding.default_external, which varies depending on the environment (it's US-ASCII in your case)

Still not sure why this would only be an issue on my linux server but fine on my mac but I will chalk it up to general OS quirkiness.
