I’ve never done a compass before, but a magnetometer would be the kind of sensor you’d need! I would imagine the LIS2MDL as being a good choice, but before you commit to a sensor board with it, I’d recommend getting one of these breakouts and something like a QT Py to play with it and see if you can get the data you want out of it. If you find you can find magnetic north with it, the next step would be to put it on a sensor board! |

@joeycastillo Is the power consumption for something like the LSM303AH too high... it lists current consumption in power-down at 2.5μA while the lis2dw is at 50nA. |

Hi, I just ordered the Sensor-Watch a few days ago and have zero experiences with it so far (it´s not here yet). But today I was in the forest by bike and thought about how nice it would be, if there was a possibility to use the Watch also as a compass. Greetings from Germany |

Hi, From the datasheet:
Measurement mode could be switched on only when a button is/was pressed or something like that? I really wonder if the following could be a major issue to such a project (from the datasheet "LAYOUT CONSIDERATIONS" of the HMC): Besides keeping all components that may contain ferrous materials (nickel, etc.) away from the sensor on both sides of Do you guys think it would be possible to place a sensor board containing the HMC away from ferrous material of the watch? Hi there, I was wondering what sensor board I'd need to enable a compass face?
