How to gzip metrics for scraping

We're using Kamon and just found the following:
Prometheus Scrape sends a Accept-Encoding: gzip in the HTTP Headers but Kamon seems to not respect it:

Could you please explain me -- if possible -- how to gzip metrics with Kamon?
