Xioami Pad 6 with physical keyboard.

You cannot type in OneNote only if the virtual keyboard is active.
If you hide keyboard typing is not active…

In Google Keep can type if vitual keyboard is hidden.

I can repro this

Configuration

Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 tablet
Keyman for Android 17.0.328 stable
Apps: Google Keep and MS OneNote
Android 10

When the virtual keyboard is hidden, typing on the physical keyboard doesn't do anything.
But when I show the virtual keyboard, the previously typed characters appear in the app.

Using the system Gboard keyboard doesn't seem to have this issue

Also repros on Samsung phone with 18.0 alpha build...

If it's any consolation, the same issue happens on Keyman for Android 16.0.141 stable. Still investigating

Typing on the external keyboard with 15.0.274 stable does work while the virtual keyboard is hidden...

Via bisect, I've narrowed it down to

16.0.109 beta - external keyboard works when virtual keyboard hidden

16.0.110 beta - external keyboard broken when virtual keyboard hidden
