Fronius SunSpec Modbus configuration

To enable SunSpec/Modbus on Fronius inverters, you'll need to access the inverter's local web UI.

SnapINverters (Fronius Primo, Fronius Symo)

  1. Go to the IP address of your Fronius inverter
  2. Click "Settings" in the right menu, sign in as admin or service
  3. Click "MODBUS" in the left menu.
  4. Ensure the following settings are set:
    • Data export via Modbus: tcp
    • Sunspec Model Type: int + SF
    • Inverter control via Modbus: Ticked
  5. Click on the "tick" button to save.

  1. The "Controlling priorities" needs to be ordered by "Controlling via Modbus" first (the highest priority). You will need service level access to change this. Click on "DNO EDITOR" in the left menu.
  2. Reorder the "Controlling via Modbus" option to the top.
  3. Click on the "tick" button to save.

Gen24

  1. Go to the IP address of your Fronius inverter
  2. Click "Communications" in the left menu
  3. Click "Modbus" in the left menu.
  4. Ensure the following settings are set:
    • Slave as Modbus TCP: enabled
    • SunSpec Model Type: int + SF
    • Inverter control via Modbus: enabled
  5. Save
