<td>For LIS 60629, I read over 30 books and resources pertinent to children's services, including review sites, journals, and picture books. This project occurred in 3 parts and enabled me to think not only about how children's books are read and enjoyed, but also about their critical aspects and developmental appropriateness. The trade books reviewed covered all youth age groups, up through the "tween" category (age 12). Through this project, I also gained familiarity with various awards for children's books, which will aid future collection development.</td>

<td>For LIS 60626, Materials and Services to Teens, I wrote and presented 3 booktalks on various young adult works. I tried to choose a theme with which I am familiar (mythology and folklore), but in varying formats and with differing protagonists in order to maintain interest and reach the widest number of teens possible. These booktalks, for which I drafted and praciticed scripts, were delivered to several peers as well as the LIS 60626 instructor. I tried to use different techniques and "hooks," again, to reach the broadest audience, but also to practice with widest variety of skills I could.</td>

<td>Another project completed for LIS 60626, this program could be implemented in a public library or a school library (with administrative approval) and seeks to address the needs of an underserved population. This program is hypothetically situated in a public library system that is local to me, and also relies on partnerships with community organizations. Thus, it is a good illustration of the kinds of collaborations I might participate in as a school librarian. The planning process also involved marketing materials, budgeting and funding.</td>

<td>As I did in LIS 60629, I completed a series of young adult book reviews for LIS 60626. This broaded my reading diet and helped me to bring current my knowledge of YA literature. My selections encompassed a variety of genres and the assignment exposed me to many of the YA literature awards and review sites. As such, much like the children's services version, this project laid the groundwork to make better critical and developmentally appropriate collection-building decisions in the future. It also helped to impart the importance of reading for diversity, as most of my selections featured diverse protagonists.</td>

<td>Another project completed for LIS 60629, this is a simulated read-aloud and planned storytelling program. I chose a theme ("Not All Princesses Wear Dresses"), selecting non-traditional princess stories with strong female protagonists. The works were selected to hopefully appeal not only to girls, but all genders. The storytelling program includes the read-aloud (presented via video for the purposes of the project) and discussion, booktalks, and a craft, attempting to engage children creativelty in multiple activities.</td>

<td><h3>Intro to News Literacy: Misinformation, Disinformation, and Evaluating a News Story</h3></td>
<td>This is an instruction session created as the final project for LIS 60618, Information Literacy Instruction. This project addresses the AASL's "Curate" frame and "Create" competency, which states that students must be able to assess the validity and accuracy of information, an increasingly important topic in today's information landscape and one which is integral to information literacy teaching. It involved a four-step planning process for a 20-minute lesson which was then taught to classmates virtually. This project represents my first experience teaching and receiving feedback, which will be invaluable in my future as a teacher librarian. </td>

Ultimately, it is extremely important to advocate for the profession to key stakeholders such as school administration. Regarding technological use, it required the use of various recording technologies, such as Audacity, and equipment, such as a condenser microphone.</td>

Because student-aged children are becoming increasingly exposed to technology, it is vital for information professionals to be able to evaluate and recommend developmentally appropriate and worthwhile apps and digital resources and activities. This exercise helped me to become more familiar with the challenges and important aspects of evaluating digital media for children.</td>

<td>This unit encompasses 8 lessons to be taught to 5th graders, aligning with both ELA and AASL standards. This project was completed for ADED 62145, Classroom Management, as a unit to be conducted by the librarian in an ELA classroom. It focuses on graphic texts as a way to increase multiliteracies in young learners and hopefully find a way into reaching reluctant readers. Additionally, this unit was adapted for older students during my practicum on-site hours, so I was able to put it to practical use.</td>

As an essential management skill, I found this project to be challenging in striking a balance between adequate description and too much information. I am a proponent of genrification for fiction collections, and this project helped me to formulate a more cohesive plan for how I would manage my future institution's collection.</td>
