Re: Everywhere: If you truly want something everywhere that requires no reseeding effort on your part, try catmint. Warning: very invasive, and not good if you want control over your landscape! Big attractor for bees, though. "Walker's Low" is a good variety since it's not too huge. Although "Little Trudy" is smaller I think the scent is not as nice.

Is it going to attract neighborhood cats? While I do want them to hunt my mice, I want to keep my snakes 🤗 🐍 😁

Ditto on the catmint - it goes everywhere, but it's cheerful lavender colored flowers are worth it - it creeps in amongst our paving stones

I would suggest putting the chives in the ground --- they should be able to fend for themselves better down there :)
