The CompressOScope is an audio app and plugin which allows you to calculate and visualize a dynamic range compressor's gain in real time. To use the CompressOScope, set up a stereo recording track and route the input of the compressor you want to measure on to channel 1 (L) and the output to channel 2 (R). If there is an offset or delay between the input and output, make sure to correct for this as the CompressOScope works best with aligned input/output signals.
The plugin itself can be downloaded from the Releases page in this repository. Once downloaded, the plugin can be installed by simply dragging the file into your plugins folder.
VST3:
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
AU (Component):
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
The .app can be run as a standalone without a DAW or further installation.
At present, the available binaries are AU, VST, and a macOS app. If you would like to generate your own binary for another file format or platform, you can compile your own plugin.
