This feature request proposes adding a toggle button to the Microsoft Calculator app that allows users to keep the calculator window on top of all other applications at all times. This functionality would be particularly beneficial for:
Multitasking: Perform calculations while referencing other applications without the calculator window being obscured.
Quick Calculations: Keep the calculator easily accessible for jotting down quick calculations during workflow.
Screen Recording & Tutorials: Maintain the calculator window in focus while recording screen tutorials or demonstrations.
Implementation:
There are two possible ways to implement this feature:
Simple Toggle: A dedicated checkbox within the calculator's settings menu labeled "Always on Top" would enable/disable this functionality.
System Tray Icon: A system tray icon for the calculator app could be introduced. Right-clicking this icon would provide an option to "Always on Top."
Benefits:
Improved multitasking efficiency for users who frequently perform calculations alongside other tasks.
Enhanced accessibility for the calculator window during screen recordings and presentations.
Increased user convenience by providing more control over window placement.
Additional Considerations:
The "Always on Top" functionality should be visually indicated in the calculator window's title bar or border for clarity.
A keyboard shortcut for enabling/disabling "Always on Top" could be explored for further ease of use.
By incorporating this "Always on Top" toggle, the Microsoft Calculator app would become a more versatile and user-friendly tool for Windows users.
