Unwanted auto formatting on Enter

Expected vs. Actual

when hit "Enter"

• Expected: just create a new line
• Actual: create a new line and auto format the entire document

Steps to reproduce:

This problem shows up from time to time. It disappears after I reload the vscode from command plate. It finally ruined my changes this time and I decided to report.

Diagnostic data

• Python version (& distribution if applicable, e.g. Anaconda): 3.9.18
• Type of virtual environment used (e.g. conda, venv, virtualenv, etc.): Conda
• Value of the python.languageServer setting: Pylance

@shaoqx Please share your settings. specifically check what you have for formatOnType.

@karthiknadig Thank you! I found it is enabled by the Python extension. I was not able to turn it off for the workspace using the GUI but I did it via editing the .json
My problem has been resolved! Thank you!
