Possibly the most epic thing we will ever do.

The hardest part of this seems to be getting the actual wither? Everything else looks pretty simple!

Since when is Epic a problem for us?

Hmm the comments suggest that no longer works, but the minecraft wiki indicates that this does... (with some modifications) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QuZFlpHPRw

I think whatever we use for this it's going to require the wither which will probably be harder to get than the rest combined =(

Latest version requires a snow biome and we want it miles from anywhere, here looks good.

Civil engineering teams have begun expanding the Arctic Line in anticipation of Arctic Base 1 and Mega Farm 1.

Still to do:

  • Get a wither, blocked by Wither skelly farm #37
  • Build Mega Farm 1 (the wither farm)
  • Build Arctic Base 1 here with a portal and ice tracks to Mega Farm 1
  • Clear below Mega Farm 1
  • Add easy escape routes below Mega Farm 1 with ice tunnels back to Arctic Base 1
  • Wall up Mega Farm 1 with running water to slow down a wither that gets free
  • Add appropriate signage to the area to warn of a players impending doom should they unleash the caged beast

If we want an obsidian farm, this will need to be in the end.

@peterjwest – Are we likely to lower the Endr spawn rate if we put it there do you know?

Possibly... by one. I don't know if the wither counts as a hostile mob or is a separate category, also it may not count because it's not in the loaded chunks.

I am 👎 for an obsidian farm unless it can be achieved without using a block duplication glitch or similar.

We'd use the end platform which regenerates each time the portal is used. Not a glitch.

Sounds good to me then! Is this something you'd need lots of hard labour for?

@peterjwest – How would we get into the end without dying a horrible death from the wither?

We could definitely do with cobble and trees to begin with, we've been perpetually low on trees for ages.

Uh, it's complicated.

And yes, lots of hard labour.

@peterjwest – Nice status ;)

Could you elaborate on how it would work? I've some reservations about keeping the end and it's farm of precious XP easily accessible given it's probably our highest traffic area.

@peterjwest

Yeah, maybe not the best idea... you also need 2 people AFKing for it to work.

Sorry, I thought that the way to do this is to drop sand from a duplicator into the end portal. Is there another way?
