I've started clearing the nether.

There's a 2x1 tunnel around the edge of the area we need to clear out. You can see it on the overviewer map, but it's no use in-game because it's in the upper netherrack of the map. I'd like to make a cobble border around to show the edge in-game.

Corners are:
x: 40, z: 0
x: 40, z: 280
x: -259, z: 0
x: -259, z: 280

This is 128 blocks from anywhere standing inside the wither skelly spawner.

You can insta-mine with an iron E4 pick, or blow up areas with dynamite.
I'd recommend an E4 diamond pick for netherbrick, however as it's significantly faster than iron.

I've generally been removing any floating areas, and filling in any small tunnels which come down from the ceiling. Not sure how to deal with platforms at lava level because removing them ends up looking rubbish. May be better to half slab them.

I've also been removing nether fortresses except the bare columns, which look kind of cool.

All sounds great to me :) -- I think we should all be concentrating on this instead of the witch farm for the moment, because that will be much faster once this is done.

My only suggestion is that perhaps a glowstone perimeter will be prettier (and perhaps easier to see) than a cobble one. Might be too expensive, though....

Cobble one would just be temporary, I wouldn't want to try to get 1010 blocks of glowstone. Also there may be multiple levels of the nether we need a border around.
