This is a release of the Jasspa MicroEmacs 09 version which contains various updates and fixes in comparison to the Jasspa MicroEmacs version from the year 2009 from http://www.jasspa.com.
The following main extensions and bug-fixes are included:

  • improved Python, Tcl and R support
  • terminal version now with improved suspend mode (thanks to Steven Phillips)

  • improved font handling using Ctrl-Plus and Ctrl-Minus shortcuts
  • improved CUA bindings (thanks to Steven Phillips)
  • documentation updates
  • compile fixes for new GCC

Installation:

Linux users should try first the appimage file, if this does not work just download an executable for your platform which matches as closely as possible. For instance for Fedora 39, you download the binaries for Fedora 38. On Unix systems you make the file executable (chmod 755 filename) and rename it for instance to me, then copy it to a folder belonging to your PATH. Therafter you can run the me executable. More information will be added later.

Jasspa MicroEmacs Executables:

  • mec - console only version (for Windows and for Mac without XQuartz)
  • mew - Windows GUI version for Windows
  • mecw - Console and Window GUI version in one Application (macOS and Linux)
  • Jasspa_MicroEmacs-x86_64.AppImage - AppImage for Linux (tested on Ubuntu 18, Ubuntu 20 and Fedora 38)

BFS executables to build your own Me version for Fedora, Ubuntu, macOS 11, 12 ,13 and Windows 10, 11.

The files chivo-mono-fonts.zip, courier-prime-fonts.zip, ubuntu-mono-fonts.zip contains font files for use within MicroEmacs and other X11-applications. Read the Readme file on how to install the BDF-X11-Fonts and how to use them with your MicroEmacs.
