I think this might be two issues:

Set a pin on a timer and all users must enter the pin to interact with the timer
Reserve timer names to prevent take-over of timer while not using it

Setting a pin is related to #63 , and perhaps there will be multiple methods of controlling who can join your timer.

Reserving a timer name is a bigger issue, and probably relates to #111 and #113

I'm going to close this since there are better details managed in the related tickets.
