GFM does not link to commit or issues

Hello,

I just made a changelog with all issue numbers and commit numbers:

The commits and issues are not linked.

Can you explain why? They are linked in the example "index.md" as shown in #1

You'll notice if you look at the source of index.md that the links are, in fact, actual <a href> links, and not autolinked at all. It is my understanding that issue and commit numbers are autolinked in issue and pull request descriptions and comments, similar to Task Lists.

That said, it would be a nice feature. Github likely has a reason for explicitly excluding such a feature.
