The nectar of Your words is life for the ones scorched by sorrow and pain. It is praised by the sages. It destroys sins. Hearing it is auspicious. It is spread by the fortunate. Those who narrate it are the munificent ones.

bhrāmayansarvabhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā. gītā 18-61

O Arjuna, the Lord dwwells in the region of heart in all beings, causing all beings to revolve, as if mounted on a machine by His Māya.


ज्ञानिनामपि चेतांसि देवी भगवती हि सा।
बलादाकृष्य मोहाय महामाया प्रयच्छति,
दुर्गासप्तशती १-५५

jñānināmapi cetāṃsi devī bhagavatī hi sā, balādākṛṣya mohāya mahāmāyā prayacchati.
durgāsaptaśatī 1-55

Verily, She, the Bhagavatī, Mahāmāyā forcibly drawing the minds of even the wise, throws them into delusion.

Salutations to You, O Devi Gayatri, come, One whose name is of three syllables, the Giver of boons, the Exponent of Brahman, the Mother of metres, the Origin of (even the) Brahman.

He who relinquishes the fruits of action is called a relinquisher

sanyāsaḥ karmayogaśca ni:śreyasakarāvubhau - gītā 5-2

Both renunciation and performance of action lead to final emancipation

Just as water on a leaf of a lotus leaf is fickle, so is the life very transient.

O Devi, how can we describe your inconceivable form, or your abudant surpassing valour that destroys the asuras, or your wonderful feats displayed in battles among all the hosts of gods, asuras and others?

न मे पार्थास्ति कर्तव्यं त्रिषु लोकेषु किञ्चन ।
नानवाप्तमवाप्तव्यं वर्त एव च कर्मणि ॥ गीता ३-२२

na me pārthāsti kartavyaṃ triṣu lokeṣu kiñcana ।
nānavāptamavāptavyaṃ varta eva ca karmaṇi ॥ gītā 3-22

In all the three worlds, O Partha, there is no duty whatsoever for Me (to fulfil); nothing remains unachieved or to be achieved. (Still) I continue in action.


पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।
तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः ॥ ९-२६॥

patraṃ puṣpaṃ phalaṃ toyaṃ yo me bhaktyā prayacchati ।
tadahaṃ bhaktyupahṛtamaśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ ॥ gītā 9-26॥

Whoever offers Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, I accept the devout gift of the pure-minded.

स्वयमेवात्मनाऽत्मानं वेत्थ त्वं पुरुषोत्तम।
svayamevātmanā'tmānaṃ vettha tvaṃ puruṣottama - gītā 10-15

O supreme Person, You Yourself alone know Yourself by Yourself.


यमेवैष वृणुते तेन लभ्यः

yamevaiṣa vṛṇute tena labhyaḥ - muṇḍakopaniṣat 3-2-3

He is attained only by one whom He chooses

O son of Kunti, whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer as a sacrifice, whatever you give and whatever austerities you undertake, (all) that you offer to Me.

O Mighty-armed one, fallen from both, without support, deluded on the path to Brahman, does he not get ruined like a scattered cloud?


देवान्भावयतानेन ते देवा भावयन्तु वः ।
परस्परं भावयन्तः श्रेयः परमवाप्स्यथ ॥ गीता ३-११॥

devānbhāvayatānena te devā bhāvayantu vaḥ । parasparaṃ bhāvayantaḥ śreyaḥ paramavāpsyatha ॥ gītā 3-11॥

You nourish the gods with this. Let those gods nourish you. Nourishing one another, you shall attain the supreme Good.


इतो नष्टस्ततो भ्रष्टः

ब्रह्मार्पणं ब्रह्म हविर्ब्रह्माग्नौ ब्रह्मणा हुतम्।
ब्रह्मैव तेन गन्तव्यं ब्रह्मकर्मसमाधिना ॥ गीता ४-२४॥

brahmārpaṇaṃ brahma havirbrahmāgnau brahmaṇā hutam । brahmaiva tena gantavyaṃ brahmakarmasamādhinā ॥ gītā 4-24॥

The ladle is Brahman, the oblation is Brahman, the offering is poured by Brahman in the fire of Brahman. Brahman alone is to be reached by him by him who sees Brahman in action.

brahmārpaṇaṃ brahma haviḥ


ॐ नमः शिवाय, ॐ नमः शिवाय
oṃ namaḥ śivāya, oṃ namaḥ śivāya


अन्नं ब्रह्मेति व्यजानात्। अन्नाद्ध्येव खल्विमानि भुतानि जायन्ते। अन्नेन जातानि जीवन्ति। अन्नं प्रयन्त्यभिसंविशन्तीति।

अन्नं न निन्द्यात्। तद्व्रतम्।

अन्नं न परिचक्षीत। तद्व्रतम्।

हा ३ वु हा ३ वु हा ३ वु॥५॥

अहमन्नमहमन्नमहमन्नम्। अहमन्नादो३ऽहमन्नादो३ऽअहमन्नादः।

O Dhananjaya, there is nothing else whatsoever higher than Myself. All this is strung on Me like pearls on a string.

āhāranidrābhayamaithunaṃ ca samānametatpaśubhirnarāṇām।
dharmo hi teṣāmadhiko viśeṣo dharmeṇa hīnāḥ paśubhiḥ samānāḥ॥

Eating, sleeping and copulation - these are similar in humans and animals. What is special in humans is righteous conduct. Without righteous conduct, humans are similar to animals.
